Other WInter Bathing Clubs
Tenex Icelanders
We have recently acquired some old photographs of another old Coney Island winter bathing club, the Tenex Icelanders, now defunct. Little is known about them, but from a New York Times article from January 1, 1936 we know they had their headquarters at 294 West 28th Street from which David Solsky, their chariman, led 8 members to the beach for a New Year's plunge. These pictures were donated to our archives by the family of Sol Kahn, (Sol is in the center front of the first photograph below) an avid member of the Tenex Icelanders.
